Setting up Claude

Lesson Start · Watch on YouTube (opens in a new tab)

Set up Claude once, and every chat gets better.

    • Turn off "help improve our AI models" to add a layer of privacy.
    • Fill in Instructions for Claude, under Settings and Account, with what you do and how you want answers written.
    • If you are not sure what to write, ask Claude to interview you and draft the instructions for you.
    • Turn on memory so Claude can remember things between chats.
    • Create a Project for each area of your life, such as work, personal, and health, so your chats stay organized like separate notebooks.
    • Skills, connectors, and plugins live under Customize, and you can add them later as you need them.

Example: A business manager tells Claude, "I run operations for a small company. Keep answers concise and flag risks," and every new chat starts with that context.
